Dr. Theresa Hasting specializes in working with individuals and families with trauma histories, grief and loss, and attachment difficulties. She approaches her work from a depth psychological and relational perspective, working with clients to understand and heal the roots of their pain rather than focusing solely on symptom management. Dr. Theresa utilizes a holistic approach to working with clients, addressing the body, mind, and underlying intrapersonal and interpersonal systems.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with a Ph.D in Depth Psychology who is licensed in multiple states (GA- LPC Supervisor, FL- TLHT LMHC, HI- LMHC, and TX- LPC Supervisor) and a Registered Sandplay Practitioner. Her dissertation, Sabotaging Aphrodite?: Sex and Self-Harm, focused on girls' and women's sexual behaviors that others may perceive as problematic and explored the psyche's search for wholeness through them. With 20 years of experience in the mental health field, her background includes working as a therapist, parent facilitator and educator, and administrator in various settings, including wilderness, residential, community mental health, and inpatient settings.
Dr. Theresa has completed advanced training and consultation in Sandplay, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She specializes in working with individuals and family systems struggling with trauma. She has also received advanced training in Nurturing Parenting® Programs and Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI), earning Educator status to help families and parents. From these specialized trainings, she integrates neuropsychology, somatic practices, and depth psychology into her therapeutic process.
Dr. Theresa is passionate about social justice, art, promoting others, and travel. She spent her formative years growing up in Europe, attending an international school. This experience has given her a deep appreciation for learning about other cultures. Theresa is a staunch ally for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent, or as my daughter claims, “neurospicy,” folkx.
